The Square is a revitalization of a dead mall into a community gathering space or “third place”; providing a central hub for neighbors to seek connection without barriers of cost. This project reimagines a mall beyond the purpose of consumption, creating a destination for meaningful human connection amidst an epidemic of loneliness.

Echoes of the mall’s former life are incorporated into design that features organic textures, built-in biophilia, bright colors, and influences from local culture to create a lively and welcoming environment. The main concourse channels the feeling of strolling down “main street” while the coworking lounge provides diverse options for collaboration space.
